President

Myraida Meléndez is a second-year law student at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. She graduated from North Carolina Central University with a degree in Criminal Justice. She is interested in civil rights, immigration, and criminal law. She is currently the president of the National Women Law Students’ Organization, where she strives to empower its members by providing them with tools that will help them thrive as law students and future attorneys. She is also the spokesperson for a pro bono that provides legal information to the parents of children with special needs. She has three boys with whom she spends her free time. They enjoy going to the movies and the beach together. Myraida hopes to be a prosecutor upon graduation, where she plans on using Therapeutic Jurisprudence techniques to reduce recidivism in her community.

Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, a major in Political Science, with an emphasis in Gender and Politics. As an undergraduate student, she participated in various organizations, such as the Pre-Law Society, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Puerto Rican Association of Political Science Students. Juliana has always shown particular interest in gender issues related to politics, which has motivated her to do research related to this topic, as well as become a member of the Organization for Women’s Rights. Juliana is currently in her third year of law school. Her academic interests include Civil, Labor and Immigration Law. During her free time, Juliana loves to watch movies, TV series, go out for dinner, local tourism, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Historian 
Karim is a decorated Army combat veteran. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor’s Degree in European History. As an undergraduate student, she participated in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She worked as an English tutor in the Upward Bound Program of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras’ Campus. Karim is a 3L and a member of Pro Bono Vivid and the Pro Bono of Intellectual Property. She is also a trained electronic dance music producer and has participated as a compositor in the Electro-acustic Music Serie held at Sala-Teatro Beckett and at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. Karim also worked as a volunteer at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico.

Karla Germaine González Vázquez

2L Representative


Karla is a 2L at the UPR Law School. She graduated Cum Laude from the Business Administration School, with a concentration in Accounting from the UPR-Bayamón Campus. Karla has always liked to be involved in school associations as a way to promote a sense of community within the students. As a 1L, she joined the NWLSO and as a current mentor of the Student Mentorship Program she hopes to reach out to colleagues and help them in their professional development, as well as promote gender equality in the field. She is also an active member in the school’s pro bono organization Rescate, where students become agents of rehabilitation by using Therapeutic Jurisprudence to help those within the correctional system, working alongside the deviation program for young men Hogar Crea and various correctional institutions. In her spare time, Karla likes participating in eco-tourism activities, challenging herself to take risks and become more adventurous while discovering and learning about her island. She also enjoys reading books and traveling to new places to immerse herself in different cultures. Her academic interests are Civil Rights, Criminal, and Immigration Law.

Nydea Karina Rodríguez 

Event coordinator

Nydea is a 2L at the UPR School of Law. She describes herself as a passionate, dedicated, and fearless young woman. She believes that hard work and perseverance never go unnoticed. She is interested in domestic violence prevention in Puerto Rico and seeks a career in litigation. Nydea sees herself defending women’s rights through litigation and advancing feminism in the legal world.

Andrea Paola Vega Cosme 

Event coordinator

Andrea is a 2L at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. She describes herself as a passionate, kindhearted, and hardworking woman. During her time in law school, she has taken interest in Therapeutic Jurisprudence, also known as the study of how legal systems affect emotions, behaviors, and mental health. Andrea has been actively involved in pro bono work by working in rehabilitation programs for young kids in detention facilities.
